HC Deb 08 July 1926 vol 197 c2264
60. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Minister of Transport what was the total amount paid into the Road Fund as the result of fines levied on motorists during the past year; and how many driving licences were suspended?

Colonel ASHLEY

The total amount of fines levied on motorists and paid into the Road Fund during the financial year 1925–26 was, approximately, £165,000. There are no figures available as to the number of driving licences suspended.

Sir H. BRITTAIN

Can the right hon. Gentleman give any indication of the number of police engaged in this work and the time for which they are engaged?

Colonel ASHLEY

That question should be addressed to the Home Secretary.

Colonel DAY

Is that the complete sum of money paid in fines by motorists during the last 12 months.

Colonel ASHLEY

Yes, certainly.
