Sir FRANK NELSONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the subsequent political changes in the French Government, he is in a position to confirm that Great Britain would receive, during the current financial year from France, the sum of £4,000,000 on account of the French War Debt, as promised in April last by M. Péret, the then French Finance Minister?

§ Mr. CHURCHILLWhen a promise is definitely made by a responsible Minister of a foreign Government, one has every reason to believe it will be adhered to. That is certainly my hope.
