HC Deb 07 July 1926 vol 197 cc2071-2
36. Mr. SCURR

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many aliens with over 15 years' residence in this country, and against whose character there is no charge, have applied for naturalisation and been refused since 1st January, 1925?

Captain HACKING

As my right hon. Friend stated on 23rd June, in answer to the hon. Member for Central Southwark, the total number of applications which were refused between 1st January, 1925, and 31st May last, was 339. I cannot undertake to give any information as to the applicants' length of residence or their character.
