HC Deb 23 February 1926 vol 192 c305
100. Mr. TAYLOR

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many persons in Great Britain are entitled to more than one vote in Parliamentary elections; and whether he will consider an amendment of the existing franchise qualifications, to ensure that no person shall be able to register more than one vote at future General Elections?

Captain HACKING

I am unable to give the precise information desired. In England and Wales 217,511 electors are registered for business premises qualifications and 51,357 electors for university constituencies, but it is not known how many of these have a vote in another constituency as well in respect of a residential qualification. The answer to the last part of the question is in the negative.
