§ 5. Major COHENasked the Minister of Pensions the number of applications made to the Special Grants Committee for a sickness grant by widows and orphans during the period 1st January, 1925, to 31st December, 1925; and the number of cases in which grants were made?
§ Major TRYONDuring the period referred to, I understand that 1,274 applications were made and considered and awards were made in 230 cases. I would add that it has been represented to me by the Special Grants Committee that applicants and war pensions committees are not fully alive to the limited conditions under which this quite exceptional grant was allowed to be made by the late Government in 1924, and I am taking steps to issue fuller information for their guidance.
