HC Deb 18 February 1926 vol 191 c2083
Mr. RAMSAY MacDONALD

I have been asked by my co-trustees of the British Museum to present their Petition to this House. The Petition recites the capital holdings which the Trustees have, and the income derived from those holdings. It goes on to say that the income is not sufficient to enable the Trustees to carry out their trust efficiently, and concludes with this Prayer: Your Petitioners therefore humbly pray your Honourable House to grant them such further support towards enabling them to carry on the execution of the Trust reposed in them by Parliament for the general benefit of learning and useful knowledge, as to your House shall seem meet.
