HC Deb 17 February 1926 vol 191 cc1930-1
Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

May I draw your attention, Mr. Speaker, to the increasing number of Supplementary Questions asked in this House, and how very unfair it is to those who have questions later on the Order Paper?

Mr. SPEAKER

I wish all Members would take it to heart that, if they occupy too much time in Supplementaries—I have always been myself against any hard and fast rule—they are depriving their colleagues of their proper opportunities.

Mr. MACLEAN

Is not the proper thing that Ministers to whom questions are addressed should give satisfactory answers?

Mr. SPEAKER

I do not remember an occasion when Ministers' answers were always considered satisfactory.
