HC Deb 11 February 1926 vol 191 cc1213-4
22. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Home Secretary whether he has now considered the memorial from the Bishop of London, acting on behalf of the London Public Morality Council, representing various religious and social organisations, with reference to indecent publications and stage plays; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

Yes, Sir, and I am causing a reply to be sent to the memorial. I shall be happy to let the hon. Member have a copy.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman the question of which he wanted notice last week—what are his powers in regard to indecent books? I do not mean books brought in from abroad, but published in this country.

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I asked the hon. and gallant Member to give me notice of it last week, and he has not done so.
