HC Deb 11 February 1926 vol 191 cc1204-5
5. Mr. ELLIS DAVIES

asked the Minister of Pensions whether, as appellants under the Pensions Regulations resident in North Wales have now to appear before tribunals in Liverpool, he will say whether members of that tribunal, and particularly the officials, are able to speak with the appellants in their own language?

Major Sir HARRY BARNSTON (for Colonel GIBBS)

By hearing appeals from North Wales at Liverpool instead of Wrexham, serious delay in deciding these appeals is avoided. The change has involved no alteration in the personnel of the Courts deputed to deal with these appeals, which includes Welsh-speaking members and secretary.

Mr. DAVIES

Are any of the members of the tribunal or officials concerned able to speak the Welsh language?

Major BARNSTON

Yes, Sir; the hon. Member may gather that from the answer.
