27. Mr. BECKETT

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to what position Mr. G. A. Mounsey has been appointed in the Foreign Office; what is the reason for his appointment; and is any change of policy indicated?

Mr. Mounsey has been appointed to be head of the Far Eastern Department of the Foreign Office, his predecessor being about to be promoted to a post abroad. No change of policy is involved in an appointment of this nature.
