Mr. JOHNSTONasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that in the Kamatipura District of Bombay there are hundreds of women kept in iron cage houses for prostitution purposes; whether he is aware that the tramcars pass down the street between these cages; that there are instances where from six to 12 women are in one room; and that the women solicit from behind the cage bars; is he further aware of the growth of venereal disease in Bombay; and what steps, if any, it is proposed to take in the matter?
