§ 9. Mr. LIVINGSTONEasked the President of the Board of Trade the value of imports, exports, and re-exports of all commodities subject to safeguarding of industry and ad valorem duties for the first 10 months of 1924 and 1926, respectively?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERI am having a statement prepared, and will send it to the hon. Member as soon as it is ready. I ought to add that any statistics covering the prolonged period of the coal stoppage obviously relate to an abnormal period.
§ Mr. H. WILLIAMSMay I ask whether the statement will indicate at what period safeguarding ceased in 1924?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERI can add that to the statement. I was not proposing to circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT as I do not think any statistics which cover the absolutely abnormal period of trade depression in this country during the past seven months of the coal stoppage are of the least value as information whatever.
