HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 cc2273-4
30. Mr. HASLAM

asked the Minister of Health whether, considering that in the Irish Free State and parts of Denmark there is little or no inspection of farm premises, he will issue instructions to local authorities to proceed with dis- cretion in the administration of those parts of the Milk and Dairies Order requiring financial outlay, especially in cases of smallholders?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have this matter under consideration in conjunction with other questions which have arisen as to the administration of the Order.

Mr. HASLAM

Will the right hon. Gentleman Lake into consideration the fact that, owing to statements made by sanitary inspectors and other persons claiming authority, there is very considerable alarm in the minds of smallholders, and that many of them are considering whether they will be able to continue keeping a cow or two?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

That is one of the points which I am taking into consideration.
