Mr. WOMERSLEY (for Mr. PRESTON)asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any negotiations have been concluded between the Rumanian and British Governments in regard to the compensation to be paid for the destruction of Rumanian oil properties during the War; and, if so, whether he can state the nature of the settlement and when the terms will become effective?
Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSONIn November, 1925, an agreement was reached between His Majesty's Government and the Rumanian Government whereby the latter undertook to compensate the oil companies for the damage done to their properties in 1916. On the 15th November of this year a final agreement was signed between the Rumanian Government and the British companies concerned, the terms of which were published in the Press.
