HC Deb 28 April 1926 vol 194 c2035
Mr. HARDIE

When I came to this House, in 1922, I made myself acquainted with the Rules of the House, and in the copy of the Rules, dated 1921, I find, under Standing Order 29, that "A Member is not obliged to vote." This morning I got another copy of the Rules, and find that those words are still there. I want to know, for my information, whether at any time since 1922 that Rule has ever been altered or suspended in any way?

Mr. SPEAKER

Not that I am aware of. We have now passed the time for Questions, and I have called for the presentation of Bills. Perhaps the hon. Member will let me have his point in writing, and I will see if I can answer his question to-morrow.
