HC Deb 27 April 1926 vol 194 c1828
30. Mr. COIJPER

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in the event of Colours being presented to the Royal Scots on their return to Maryhill Barracks, Glasgow, from Aden, he will decide that the pikestaff should bear the Scottish national crest?

Captain KING

My right hon. Friend regrets that he is unable to recommend the change advocated by my hon. Friend. The proposed alteration in question has been exhaustively considered on several previous occasions, and I am advised that no departure from existing practice is warranted.

Mr. COUPER

is the hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that the crest which appears on the pikestaff of the Colours is not that which appropriate to the Royal Crest of Scotland?

Captain KING

it is the crest authorised by the Army Regulations.
