HC Deb 26 April 1926 vol 194 c1636
9. Mr. JACOB

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the new agreement with the United States permitting American revenue cutters to enter territorial waters of the Bahama Islands for purposes of search, on due notice being given, has received the approval of the local executive council and House of Assembly?

Mr. AMERY

I would invite my hon. Friend's attention to the reply addressed by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to the hon. and gallant Member for Norwich on the 21st April, which makes it clear that he is mistaken in supposing that any such agreement has been concluded. The arrangements outlined in that reply were made with the full concurrence of the Governor of the Bahamas.
