85. Mr. WALLHEAD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government has approached or made any agreement with either of the parties now engaged in the civil war in China, in the event of either of them occupying Pekin, as to the future government of China, or the future foreign policy of that country?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

His Majesty's Government have neither approached nor entered into any agreement with either of the parties for the purpose indicated.

Mr. WALLHEAD

Can the hon. Gentleman say whether His Majesty's Government will refrain in future from any interference?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

We have not indulged in any interference.
