§ Sir A. CHAMBERLAINThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I understand that the Treaty has not yet been concluded, and I have not seen the text of any of the Articles, but the German Government have given assurances that the Treaty will contain nothing that conflicts with the Covenant of the League or with the Locarno Agreements. Accepting these assurances, and assuming that the final text of the Treaty completely fulfils them, I see no reason to take exception to it.
