HC Deb 21 April 1926 vol 194 cc1196-7
29. Major Sir BERTRAM FALLE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he can make any statement on the subject of the engineer officers of the Royal Navy; and if he will consider their case anew?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I dealt with this matter very fully in the Debate on the Report stage of the Navy Estimates, and I have nothing to add to what I said then.

Sir B. FALLE

Does that mean that nothing is going to be done?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

No, it does not mean that nothing is going to be done. I have already explained what has been done.

Mr. BASIL PETO

Before a final decision is arrived at, will the right hon. Gentleman give equal attention to the representations of engineer officers to that he has already given to those of the executive branch?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

My hon. Friend has no authority for saying I have not considered both sides. I have. I am always ready to listen to any representations made by engineer officers, and perhaps the hot,. Member will tell me what power it is that they have lost which they enjoyed before the Fleet order to which reference is made was passed.

Mr. SPEAKER

We have recently debated this matter.
