HC Deb 30 November 1925 vol 188 cc1807-8
32. Mr. R. MORRISON

asked the Minister of Health whether the Committee appointed to consider special assistance to local authorities in necessitous areas will deal without delay with the distress which has arisen in many of the mining districts in South Wales: and whether an Interim Report will be presented?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of HEALTH (Sir Kingsley Wood)

The Committee to which the hon. Member refers has been appointed to consider and report on any scheme which may be submitted to them for special assistance from the Exchequer to local authorities in necessitous urban and quasi-urban areas. The Committee have already met and will proceed as expeditiously as possible to carry out their terms of reference. The Committee cannot yet say whether they will find it necessary to present an Interim Report.

Mr. W. TH0RNE

Has the Prime Minister already selected a man for Wales according to the intention announced recently?

Sir K. WOOD

I think the hon. Member had better put down that question.
