§ 12. Mr. DALTONasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has been invited by the Swedish Government to enter into a general arbitration treaty with Sweden; and, if so, what answer he has given to the invitation?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINProposals for the discussion of an enlargement of the scope of the existing Arbitration Convention were made by the Swedish Government in connection with the renewal of that Convention, which fell due on the 9th November last, but in order to avoid delay in the renewal of the Convention it was deemed preferable to renew it in the existing form, with the substitution of the Permanent Court of International Justice as the Court to which reference should be made.
