HC Deb 25 November 1925 vol 188 c1367
47. Captain ARTHUR EVANS

asked the Prime Minister if, with a view to giving every encouragement to the production of films in Great Britain, he will advise all Government Departments and other authorities concerned to give any reasonable facility which may be requested by producing companies in order that the historic and other elements of British life may be shown on the screen with advantage to all?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I have been asked to reply. I have no doubt that reasonable facilities would be readily accorded in appropriate cases, but in view of the differing circumstances that may arise, the matter must, I think, be left to the discretion of the Department or authority concerned in any particular instance.

Sir W. DAVISON

Will the hon. Gentleman consider the propriety of requiring cinemas in this country to show a fixed minimum of British films as is done in other countries?

Colonel DAY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Brighton Corporation have offered a very large tract of land for the purpose of making films.

Sir B. CHADWICK

I do not know about that.
