HC Deb 23 November 1925 vol 188 cc891-2
21. Mr. RAMSDEN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state the policy of the Government with regard to the Amani Institute?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Amery)

I am glad to be able to say that the Governments of the East African territories are prepared to grant sufficient funds to enable the Institute to be reopened. The necessary capital expenditure in this connection can be found from the proposed guaranteed loan for which a Bill will in due course be laid before Parliament. His Majesty's Government are fully alive to the importance of Amani for the future development of East Africa.
