HC Deb 19 November 1925 vol 188 c550
12. Sir WALTER de FRECE

asked the Home Secretary the number of convictions during the last 12 months of persons offering for sale non-British goods as being of British origin?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

Particulars of prosecutions under the Merchandise Marks Act, 1887, are not available for the last 12 months. In 1924, police returns show that there were 18 convictions under the Act, but the returns do not disclose the exact nature of the offences.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Postmaster-General is, for the purpose of stamping letters "Buy British Goods," using a machine made in Germany?
