HC Deb 19 November 1925 vol 188 cc582-6
Mr. RAMSAY MacDONALD

Suppose the inevitable happens to-night, and the Eleven o'Clock Rule is suspended, what business do the Government propose to take?

The PRIME MINISTER

I put down the Motion to suspend the Eleven o'Clock Rule with a view solely to securing the passage of the Tithe Bill.

Mr. MacDONALD

May I ask what business is proposed for to-morrow and next week?

The PRIME MINISTER

To-morrow—I use the words "if not already taken" in case the Tithe Bill should be finished earlier—the Criminal Justice Bill, further Consideration and Third Reading; Second Reading of the Government of India (Civil Services) Bill [Lords]; Legitimacy Bill [Lords]; Married Women (Torts) Bill [Lords]; and Coastguard Bill [Lords], and, if time allow, other Orders on the Paper.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, we shall take the Report

and Third Reading of the Rating and Valuation Bill, and, if time permit, other Orders.

The business for Thursday and Friday I hope to announce at the beginning of the week.

Captain BENN

When is it intended to introduce the new Finance Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

Perhaps the hon. and gallant Gentleman will put that question down in a week's time.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.]

The House divided: Ayes, 270; Noes, 117.
