HC Deb 18 November 1925 vol 188 c383
58. Sir FREDRIC WISE

asked the Prime Minister if he will introduce legislation at once so that the imposition of any duties should have an immediate effect, in order to prevent the dumping of goods in the interval between any statement relating to the duty and its actual imposition?

The PRIME MINISTER

This question is being actively considered, but I regret that I am not in a position to make any statement at present. In any event, pressure of Parliamentary business would prevent the introduction of legislation of the character suggested during this session.

Mr. SNOWDEN

While the Government are considering this matter, will they also consider the point of making the repeal of a duty immediately operative?

The PRIME MINISTER

I will take that suggestion into consideration.
