HC Deb 18 November 1925 vol 188 cc377-8
64. Mr. R. MORRISON

asked the Prime Minister whether he has received copies of a resolution passed by the Tottenham and other local authorities urging the convening of a national industrial conference to consider methods of alleviating unemployment; and whether the Government have come to any decision upon this suggestion?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, Sir. The situation is being closely watched by His Majesty's Government, but I doubt whether a national industrial conference such as is suggested by the hon. Member would be effective at the present time. I still remain of the opinion which I have previously expressed that more good can result from conferences between all parties within the important industries.
