§ 64. Mr. R. MORRISONasked the Prime Minister whether he has received copies of a resolution passed by the 378 Tottenham and other local authorities urging the convening of a national industrial conference to consider methods of alleviating unemployment; and whether the Government have come to any decision upon this suggestion?
§ The PRIME MINISTERYes, Sir. The situation is being closely watched by His Majesty's Government, but I doubt whether a national industrial conference such as is suggested by the hon. Member would be effective at the present time. I still remain of the opinion which I have previously expressed that more good can result from conferences between all parties within the important industries.
