asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, with regard to the grant of £25,000 sanctioned for the purchase of books in Great Britain to be presented to the Tokyo Library, if he will say to whom is entrusted the purchase and choice of the same

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Purchases will be made by the Foreign Office. They are assisted in the choice of the books by a Committee of the British Academy under the chairmanship of the Earl of Balfour. This Committee is acting in consultation with the Tokyo University authorities
