§ 28. Colonel DAYasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that there are registered at the Ilford Employment Exchange a number of ex-members of the Royal Irish Constabulary, resident on the London County Council Becontree housing estate, who are receiving pensions, some of a considerable amount, for services in the Royal Irish Constabulary, and that preferential treatment is being afforded 1833 them when available vacancies arise in the above area; and whether he is prepared to recommend to the officers at the Ilford Employment Exchange that this preferential treatment to pensioned officers of the Royal Irish Constabulary be discontinued, so that vacancies shall be placed in the way of men who have no income or pension?
