Mr. JAMES STUARTasked the Minister of Agriculture whether any decision has been come to with regard to the Regulations for the double dipping of sheep; if so, when the decision will be made public; and whether it is the Ministry's intention to introduce new Regulations which will abolish, in so far as possible, the present unnecessary 1434 trouble and expense caused by the compulsory double dipping cf sheep in many areas?
§ The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Edward Wood)The measures proposed for the eradication of sheep scab. are being submitted for consideration to a number of agricultural bodies and I am therefore, unable to make a statement at the moment. I am advised that nothing short of double dipping can be expected to succeed. An endeavour will, however, be made to relieve clean counties under certain conditions from the requirements of the Regulations
§ Mr. STUARTIs the right hon. Gentle man aware that there is a strong feeling in the sheep-farming counties in England owing to certain local authorities having had additional powers conferred upon them under the Act?
§ Mr. WOODYes, Sir. I am well aware of that, and it is in order to overcome that difficulty that I hope in that respect to be able to revise the administration
