HC Deb 11 May 1925 vol 183 cc1446-7
72. Sir F. WISE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if there are any early prospects of the rupee being linked to gold or a gold standard?

Mr. GUINNESS

I think this is a question which should be addressed to the Under-Secretary of State for India. The fact that sterling is now stabilised with gold will naturally make it easier to fix the relation of the rupee to the £

Sir F. WISE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can state the amount of gold that has left the United States of America since October, 1924, and the destination of the gold?

Mr. GUINNESS
