STEEL-MAITLANDThe approximate amounts of unemployment benefit (including an estimated figure for benefit paid through associations) paid by the Stepney Employment Exchange in the years 1920, 1921, 1922, 1923 and 1924, were £18,000, £366,000, £268,000, £270,000 and £288,000 respectively. In addition a sum of approximately £224,000 was paid in respect of out-of-work donation in 1920 and 1921.
