§ 7.Colonel APPLINasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that a consignment of great crested grebe has been imported recently from Holland, in a consignment of ducks and other edible wild fowl used in the poultry trade, and passed on by the importers to certain firms which prepare plumage for this trade; and whether he will take the necessary steps to prevent the illegal smuggling of plumage in this manner?
Mr. GUINNESSI am not aware that any such importation has taken place, but if the hon. and gallant Member will be good enough to furnish such particulars of the importation as may be available, full inquiry shall be made.
