HC Deb 04 May 1925 vol 183 c590
73. Mr. JOHN BECKETT

asked the President of the Board of Education why the Gateshead junior technical school was closed in July, 1922; whether any similar schools were closed during the same year and, if so, which; and if he will consider reopening the one at Gateshead?

Lord E. PERCY

The Gateshead junior technical school was closed in 1922 owing to the insufficiency of the accommodation for the proper and economical organisation of a school of that type. No other junior technical schools were closed in that year. As regards the last part of the question, the provision of junior technical school instruction will, no doubt, be considered by the Gateshead authority in connection with the programme of Educational development which I have asked them to submit to me.
