HC Deb 04 May 1925 vol 183 c556
12. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that there are still 29 persons detained under Bengal Regulation III of 1818, and that 28 of them are in gaol; and whether it is the intention of the Government to bring them under the provisions of the Bengal Ordinance?

Earl WINTERTON

The correct number is 27. All of these persons were placed under control a considerable time —in some cases more than a year—before the Ordinance was made, and I am not aware that the Government of Bengal intend to apply it to them.
