HC Deb 31 March 1925 vol 182 c1107
76. Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Postmaster-General what has been the increase in the cost of the Post Office services for 1924–25 as the result of the War bonus and other awards beyond the regular rates of pay?

Sir W. MITCHELL - THOMSON

I assume that my hon. and gallant Friend is referring to the arrears of War bonus payable to Post Office servants under the "Sutton" and subsequent judgments in respect of their service in the forces. The total amount, which will be so paid up to 31st instant, cannot yet be stated precisely but will be about £2,000,000.
