HC Deb 26 March 1925 vol 182 c601
45. Mr. ERSKINE

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to the statement of the Minister of War that five out of every eight recruits for the Army are rejected as being physically unfit; and, in view of the importance of the matter, will he initiate an inquiry as to the causes which have led up to such a state of affairs?

46. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Prime Minister if his attention has been called to the serious facts in regard to national health and physique disclosed by the Memorandum of the Secretary of State for War; and what remedial action the Government proposes to take in the matter?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer to the first part of the questions is in the affirmative. As regards the second, I can assure hon. Members that the Government have the matter under careful consideration.
