HC Deb 26 March 1925 vol 182 c631
93. Mr. BARNES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has received representations from the East Ham Old Age Pensions Committee asking that the Old Age Pensions Act be amended so as to provide that the pension of any person who becomes an inmate of a workhouse or enters a Poor Law institution for the purpose of obtaining medical or surgical treatment shall be paid to the responsible officer of the workhouse or institution so tong as the pensioner is chargeable; and whether he intends to introduce any amending legislation on these lines?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Churchill)

I understand that such representations have been made to the Minister of Health. I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on the 12th February to similar questions by the hon. and gallant Member for Leicester South and the hon. Member for the Bedwellty Division.
