HC Deb 26 March 1925 vol 182 cc624-5
88. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Minister of Health whether he will consider taking steps to discourage the use of bricks for non-domestic purposes, with a view to increasing the supply available for house building?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

In order to permit of the maximum amount of building work being undertaken during the present shortage of bricklayers, I am encouraging local authorities to adopt alternative methods of construction for public buildings wherever these can conveniently be substituted for brick construction.

Mr. THURTLE

Will the right hon. Gentleman kindly answer my question?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have answered it.
