HC Deb 25 March 1925 vol 182 cc427-8
48. Mr. COUPER

asked the Prime Minister whether he has yet reached a decision with reference to raising the status of the Secretary for Scotland; and when will he be in a position to announce it?

The PRIME MINISTER

As I have already announced, this question is being examined, and I hope to be in a position to make a statement during the Session.

Mr. JOHNSTON

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that while there may be general agreement about raising the status of the Secretary for Scotland, there will not be the same general agreement about raising his salary?

The PRIME MINISTER

I was not aware of that, but I am not at all surprised.
