HC Deb 25 March 1925 vol 182 cc425-6
42. Brigadier - General CLIFTON BROWN

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the resolution of the Council of Agriculture for England urging immediate action by the Government to provide a large number of houses for agricultural workers in rural districts, as a national social question of first-class urgency and importance, he will bring in early legislation on the subject, or whether he will give special facilities for a Second Reading of the Rural Cottages Bill now before the House?

Sir K. WOOD

My right hon. Friend is fully alive to the importance of the rural housing problem, and he is giving the matter his close attention. He cannot, however, promise early legislation on the subject, and does not think that it will be practicable to give the facilities for which my hon. and gallant Friend asks.
