HC Deb 24 March 1925 vol 182 cc230-1
62. Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

asked the Secretary of State for War why the casualty allowances in the Sudan are considerably lower than those payable in respect of casualties arising out of the Great War?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

The pensions payable in respect of recent casualties in the Sudan are in accordance with the scale which was adopted by His Majesty's Government as appropriate to the normal conditions of service in the Navy, Army and Air Force after the War.

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

Is it the intention of the right hon. Gentleman to reduce the scale of allowances in respect of the Great War to that of this scale in 1926?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

Oh, no, Sir.
