asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of the national revenue was expended on National Debt services in the year 1913–14 and the year 1924–25?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The sum charged on the Consolidated Fund for the service of the Dead Weight Debt was, in 1913–14, 12.4 per cent. of the total revenue, and in the Budget Estimates of 1924–25 was 441 per cent.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Can the right hon. Gentleman state, approximately, how far this is responsible for the present industrial depression, and what steps he intends to take to remove it?
