HC Deb 23 March 1925 vol 182 c21
56. Sir ROBERT NEWMAN

asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of acres of agricultural land owned by public authorities in England and Wales?

Mr. WOOD

I regret that I have no information which would enable me to give the total acreage of agricultural land owned by public authorities in England and Wales. The number of acres owned by county councils and councils of county boroughs under the Small Holdings Acts, 1908–1919, in England and Wales, is 358,102. County councils also own 4,069 acres for the purposes of agricultural education.
