68. Captain A. EVANSasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that the members of the visiting committee of His Majesty's prison at Cardiff have been refused free copies of the Report of the Commissioners of Prisons; that individual Commissioners have to buy copies of their own Report; and, in view of these circumstances, will he give instructions for an adequate number of copies to be printed in the future in order to ensure every Commissioner and member of a visiting committee receiving one free copy?
Lord STANLEY (Lord of the Treasury)My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has asked me to answer this question. The Prison Commissioners are supplied with sufficient free copies for their own use and for a fairly wide distribution. The question of increasing the supply is under consideration in consulta- 2470 tion with the Treasury, and it may be possible to arrange that such individual members of visiting committees as desire separate copies may be supplied.
