HC Deb 18 March 1925 vol 181 c2254
60. Miss WILKINSON

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been called to the action of rota committees, who have demanded of young persons attending juvenile training centres that they should also seek for work on those days on which they are required to attend the centres as a condition of receiving insurance benefit; and whether he is prepared to make any statement on the subject?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I am not aware of any cases in which rota committees have required young persons to seek for work on the days on which they are required to attend juvenile unemployment centres as a condition of showing that they are making every reasonable effort to obtain employment. If the hon. Member will furnish me with particulars of any cases of this kind which have come to her notice, I will cause inquiries to be made.
