HC Deb 18 March 1925 vol 181 c2263
72. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Minister of Health whether any application has been received by his Department from building trade operatives to work overtime; whether this application has been supported by the corporation of the town in question to pay overtime rates;. and what answer, if any, has been made by the Department?

Sir K. WOOD

No application has been received by my right hon. Friend's Department from building trade operatives to work overtime. It is understood that the operatives in the direct employment of one corporation have made such an offer. It is for the town council to decide whether they will accept it, and no consent on the part of the Department is required.
