§ 62. Mr. H. WILLIAMSasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, if he will consider fixing rails on the steps leading from the Central Hall to St. Stephen's Hall, in view of the accidents which have occurred owing to the absence of rails.
Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSONThe First Commissioner will consider this proposal, but I am informed that on some days during the summer as many as 24,000 visitors pass down these steps, and that there have only been four accidents in the past three years.
