HC Deb 09 March 1925 vol 181 c934
60. Mr. LIVINGSTONE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has any information as to the effect on home producers of the subsidy of £500,000 voted in the last Session of the Australian Parliament for the marketing of Australian produce abroad?

Mr. WOOD

I have been asked to reply. The Act of the Australian Parliament to which the hon. Member refers is entitled "An Act to provide for guarantees of advances made upon the export of produce and for other purposes." It enables assistance to be granted in relation to the export and marketing of primary produce, but I have no information as to the action which will be taken under the Act, and I cannot, therefore, form an opinion as to its effect on the home producer.
